How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Power Team is partnering with a thriving business and the UK's leading technical experts in standby power, uninterruptible power supplies and combined heat and power systems, to recruit a Technical Engineer.

    The strategically important Technical Engineer role comes with a salary of £45,000 to £53,000, a company vehicle, bonus scheme, Cashplan Health benefit, 25 days' holiday increasing through the company loyalty programme and relevant training.

    Responsibilities and duties of the Technical Engineer role Reporting to the Senior Technical Engineer, you will:

    Provide technical support to the office, engineers and clients.
    Provide back-office support for Service Coordinators and Maintenance Projects.
    Support the back office with Engineer Reports.
    Liaise with the internal Technical Team and Senior Technical Engineer on product developments and improvements.
    Provide out-of-hours technical support to clients and engineers as part of the OOH management team.
    Support and carry out site audits.
    Complete site surveys to support Maintenance Sales, including compiling parts lists.
    Complete site surveys for remedial works and Maintenance Projects.
    Support the Senior Technical Engineer and Maintenance Director with engineer training and development.
    Support engineer quality control.
    Compile and approve RAMS.

    Professional qualifications

    We are looking for someone with the following:

    Strong practical engineering knowledge of generators and UPS.
    Fuel tank installation knowledge.
    Previous industry experience.
    Practical knowledge of high-level software-based control systems such as ComAp and Deep Sea.
    Strong IT skills, with fluency in Microsoft Office.
    Practical experience using laptop-based bespoke engine system analysis and control programmes, such as ComAp PC Suite and DSE Configuration Suite.
    Experience with multi-set and mains synchronisation controls.
    PLC programming skills.
    A mechanical or electrical qualification is desirable.

    Personal skills:

    The Technical Engineer role would suit someone who is:
    Positive and self-motivated.
    Trustworthy and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
    Customer-focused with good customer liaison skills.
    A confident decision-maker with a strong sense of responsibility.
    An excellent verbal and written communicator.
    Comfortable with high-mileage driving and working away from home.
    Able to think on their feet and function effectively in a fast-moving business.
    Flexible in their approach to work.

    Salary and benefits of the Technical Engineer role:

    Salary: £45,000-£53,000
    Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with a 1-hour lunch break.
