Salary: £35,602 (M1)–£54,328 (UPS3) per annum, London Fringe pay scale

Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

About the Role:

A special school in Watford is seeking an experienced SEND Teacher to lead a Years 1 and 2 class supporting children aged five to seven with severe learning difficulties and complex needs. Previous experience working in a special school is essential.

Using an Early Years approach, you will deliver learning through play, continuous provision, outdoor exploration and practical activities. Small classes allow you to tailor teaching to pupils communication, sensory and physical needs while celebrating individual progress.

You will join a collaborative specialist team offering a thorough induction, dedicated planning time and weekly professional development. This SEND Teacher role suits a creative, patient practitioner who values strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

Requirements:

· Qualified Teacher Status in the UK

· Essential experience working in a special school, alongside previous SEND teaching experience

· Experience supporting children with severe learning difficulties and complex needs

· Strong understanding of Early Years practice and child development

· Ability to plan and adapt learning to individual needs

· An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the Years 1 and 2 class, delivering personalised SEND teaching

· Plan accessible indoor and outdoor learning through play and continuous provision

· Adapt activities to pupils communication, sensory and physical needs

· Assess progress and develop individual learning goals

· Work closely with families, colleagues and other professionals
