Salary: £35,602 (M1)–£48,479 (M6) per annum, London Fringe pay scale

About the Role:

A secondary school in Borehamwood is seeking an enthusiastic PE Teacher for maternity cover. With excellent sporting facilities and a strong PE culture, you will join an experienced, supportive department that values teamwork and participation.

You will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering varied sports and physical activities, with strengths in netball and hockey welcomed. Adapting lessons for different abilities, you will help pupils develop skills, confidence and enjoyment of sport.

Alongside teaching, you will contribute to clubs and fixtures, bringing your ideas and energy to the wider sporting life of the school.

Requirements:

· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an accepted equivalent teaching qualification

· Experience teaching PE across Key Stages 3 and 4

· Practical knowledge of netball, hockey and the wider secondary PE curriculum

· Experience planning, delivering and assessing inclusive lessons

· The right to work in the UK

· An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one before appointment

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons, including netball, hockey and other sports

· Adapt activities to support participation and progress at all abilities

· Assess learning and provide clear, constructive feedback

· Support clubs, fixtures and extracurricular sporting opportunities

· Work with colleagues to maintain high expectations and positive relationships

· Inspire young people to develop through sport

· Bring strengths in netball and hockey alongside a broad sporting knowledge

· Use calm, consistent behaviour management

· Build respectful relationships with pupils and colleagues

· Contribute enthusiastically to school sport beyond lessons
