Executive Assistant - The Role:
You will provide high-quality executive, administrative and organisational support to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team, acting as a central point of coordination at the heart of the council. Working with senior officers, elected members, service managers, partners and external stakeholders, you will manage complex diaries and competing priorities while supporting corporate governance, strategic planning, communications and key projects. This is a varied and influential role requiring absolute discretion and professionalism.
Executive Assistant - Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive executive support to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team
- Manage complex and frequently changing diaries, appointments and priorities, ensuring effective coordination of commitments
- Coordinate meetings, briefings, workshops, away days and stakeholder events
- Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, briefing notes and supporting materials
- Record decisions and actions accurately, maintain action logs and follow up progress
- Support corporate governance, committee reporting, strategic priorities and key projects
- Draft professional correspondence and communications on behalf of senior officers
- Maintain effective records, document control and information management arrangements
- Build strong working relationships across the council and with external partners
- Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes and digital ways of working
Executive Assistant - You:
- Significant experience providing executive or senior administrative support to senior leaders or management teams
- A-Level standard education or equivalent experience, with a professional qualification in administration, business support or project management
- Exceptional organisational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using SharePoint or other document management systems
- Experience preparing agendas, minutes, action logs and handling sensitive information
- Sound judgement, integrity and discretion with ability to build trusted relationships
- Proactive and calm under pressure with ability to work independently and use initiative
- Experience in local government, public sector or corporate project coordination is advantageous
