How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is seeking a Business Support Officer who will play a crucial role in keeping the organisation running smoothly by providing high level proactive support to the Chief Executive and delivering essential administrative, communications, and coordination functions across the company; working hours are 35 per week.

    Duties & Responsibilities
    Support to the Chief Executive
    Deliver high‑quality executive support, including coordinating project work, preparing operational requirements, and managing assigned responsibilities and special projects.
    Provide robust project and research support, reviewing reports, presentations, and documentation.
    Prepare clear, accurate briefing materials, reports, presentations, and correspondence to inform strategic decision‑making.
    Liaise confidently with staff at all levels and manage internal and external communications on behalf of the Chief Executive.

    Organisational Administration
    Provide comprehensive administrative support across the business, ensuring accurate records, effective filing systems, and compliance with data protection and information governance.
    Support the development and improvement of organisational administrative processes to enhance efficiency.
    Deliver ad-hoc reception cover, greeting visitors, managing calls, handling enquiries, and maintaining a professional front‑of‑house environment.
    Contribute to positive internal communications and a collaborative working culture.

    Communications and Digital Engagement
    Lead production of the business newsletter, including content planning, drafting, coordinating contributions, and managing distribution.
    Maintain and update the company website, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and aligned with organisational priorities.
    Support digital communications, including social media updates, stakeholder announcements, and publication of organisational materials.
    Assist in maintaining consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.

    Event and Meeting Coordination
    Provide administrative and logistical support for organisational events, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
    Manage event administration, including invitations, registrations, venue and catering arrangements, materials preparation, and attendee communications.
    Support internal meetings through agenda preparation, minute‑taking, document collation, and monitoring completion of agreed actions.
    Provide on‑the‑day event support to ensure smooth and professional delivery.

    Business‑Wide Support
    Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline administrative processes and enhance organisational effectiveness.
    Support cross‑team projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

    General Duties:
    Keep colleagues and managers appropriately informed of work activities and provide information as requested.
    Participate in planning, team‑building activities, supervision, appraisal meetings, and in‑service training.
    Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as requested by Senior Management.

    The Candidate

    Essential
    Have previous administrative experience.
    Have excellent written communication skills.
    Possess strong organisational and multitasking skills and have high attention to detail.
    Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise professionally at all levels.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
    Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
    Possess strong confidentiality and data protection skills.
    Be trustworthy and reliable.
    Able to take an innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
    Have a full driving licence with the willingness and ability to travel around the East Riding of Yorkshire.
    Be flexible and adaptable.

    Desirable
    Digital content creation and platform experience.
    Experience supporting events, meetings, or workshops.
    An enhanced DBS check will be required.
