P&S Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a supported accommodation service in the Kingston area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social care professional looking to progress their career and take on a senior leadership role. Working closely with the Service Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the service and deputise for the Manager when required.
The service supports adults with enduring mental health needs, with a focus on recovery, independence and helping individuals to achieve their personal goals and progress towards greater independence.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Service Manager with the effective management of the service and provide leadership and guidance to the staff team. You will help ensure that high-quality, person-centred support is delivered and that the service operates safely and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include supporting staff through supervision and ongoing development, contributing to support plans and risk assessments, overseeing day-to-day staffing arrangements and ensuring safeguarding, health and safety and other relevant procedures are followed.
You will work closely with professionals, families, carers and external agencies and will support effective communication and partnership working. You will also contribute to referrals, assessments, reviews and move-on planning, helping the people using the service to work towards greater independence.
The role will involve maintaining accurate records and reports, supporting staff performance and development, assisting with property and health and safety matters and deputising for the Service Manager when required. You will also participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
About You
We are looking for someone with previous management or supervisory experience within social care, supported accommodation, mental health or a similar environment.
You will have a good understanding of person-centred and recovery-focused support, safeguarding and risk management, together with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with colleagues and external professionals. Experience of supporting people with mental health needs and/or dual diagnosis would be advantageous.
You should be confident working independently, making decisions and taking responsibility while also contributing positively to the wider management team.
