Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, an innovative organisation in the aerospace sector, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its permanent engineering team. The role will involve developing robust mechanical solutions for aerospace systems, using CAD to support design, development, testing and production activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Creating detailed 3D models, engineering drawings and design documentation using CAD
Developing mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications
Supporting design reviews, prototyping, testing and design verification activities
Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver practical and reliable solutions
Assessing designs against technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements
Investigating design issues and contributing to improvements throughout the product lifecycle
Collaborating with manufacturing and supply chain teams to support efficient production

Job Requirements:

Experience in mechanical design within an aerospace, aviation, defence or advanced engineering environment
Strong CAD skills, with the ability to produce accurate 3D models and technical drawings
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes
Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate requirements into effective designs
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
Understanding of design configuration, documentation and change control processes
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines
Relevant mechanical engineering degree, apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification
