About The Company:
The Company is an established and professional accountancy firm based in Croydon seeking an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Administrator to join their team on a part-time, self-employed basis.
This is an office-based position, working 5 days per week, and would suit an individual with strong practical experience in weekly and monthly payroll processing, together with excellent administrative and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes accurately and efficiently for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payroll is processed on time and in accordance with relevant requirements.
Key Payroll Responsibilities:
Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients
Managing the full payroll process from receiving payroll information through to finalising payroll
Calculating and processing gross-to-net pay, including regular and variable payments
Processing new starters, leavers and changes to employee details
Calculating holiday pay, overtime, bonuses, commissions and other payments where applicable
Processing statutory payments and deductions
Checking payroll calculations and carrying out detailed payroll reconciliations and accuracy checks
Preparing and issuing payslips
Processing PAYE, National Insurance and other payroll deductions
Preparing and submitting relevant payroll information and reports within required deadlines
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records
Responding to payroll queries from clients and employees in a professional and timely manner
Ensuring payroll information is handled with a high level of confidentiality and data protection
Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
Assisting with payroll year-end procedures, including P60s and other relevant year-end reporting
Liaising with clients to obtain payroll information and resolve discrepancies or queries
Administration Responsibilities:
Alongside payroll processing, the role will involve providing general administrative support to the accountancy practice, including:
Maintaining accurate client records and documentation
Preparing correspondence, reports and other documents
Updating internal systems
Filing and organising financial and payroll documentation
Managing incoming correspondence
Supporting the wider accountancy team with day-to-day administrative tasks
Ensuring deadlines are monitored and met
Maintaining a professional and organised office environment
Essential Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven hands-on experience processing both weekly and monthly payrolls
Experience managing payroll for multiple clients or businesses
Strong understanding of payroll processes, PAYE and National Insurance
Experience dealing with starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, holiday pay and statutory payments
Previous experience using payroll software
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
Good communication skills and a professional manner
Strong IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
A high level of discretion when dealing with confidential payroll and employee information

You should be comfortable working to strict weekly and monthly payroll deadlines, able to identify and resolve discrepancies, and capable of communicating effectively with both clients and colleagues.
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau would be highly advantageous.
