Job Role
Reporting to the Manufacturing & Logistics Operations Manager, the Production Coordinator – Operations will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
You will work across multiple areas of the operation, gaining experience in goods in, stores, raw ingredient preparation and cooking, end-of-line processes, and orders picking and packing.
The role will also involve supporting production teams, maintaining compliance standards, monitoring performance, and taking on increasing responsibility for operational performance and team coordination.
Responsibilities
* Ensure full compliance with food safety, quality, and hygiene standards in line with SALSA, BRC, and company requirements.
* Carry out and accurately record checks including CCPs, allergen controls, traceability, and product quality checks.
* Support audit preparation, compliance activities, and corrective actions where required.
* Promote a strong food safety and quality culture and lead by example on the factory floor.
* Work in full compliance with health & safety procedures and company policies.
* Identify hazards, report near misses, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
* Support risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times.
* Become fully trained and competent across multiple production and distribution areas.
* Support goods in management, stores organisation, raw ingredient preparation, and cooking processes.
* Operate end-of-line processes including labelling, filling, capping, and thermal processing.
* Support orders picking and packing activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
* Set up, operate, and shut down production equipment and processes efficiently and correctly.
* Ensure production targets, quality standards, and deadlines are achieved.
* Troubleshoot basic operational issues and escalate more complex problems where appropriate.
* Support the efficient use of materials and labour while minimising waste.
* Act as a senior member of the shift team, providing support and guidance to production operatives.
* Assist with the onboarding, training, and development of new team members.
* Take on informal leadership responsibilities when required and support the effective running of the shift.
* Promote high standards of performance, behaviour, teamwork, and operational discipline.
Personal Profile
* Previous experience within a food manufacturing or production environment.
* Ideally 2–3 years' experience in food production or manufacturing, with candidates with greater experience also encouraged to apply.
* Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards; SALSA or BRC experience would be advantageous.
* Ability and willingness to work across multiple production processes and operational areas.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
* Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Proactive, reliable, and willing to take on additional responsibility.
* Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Demonstrated ability to support and guide colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
