The Role

Supply Desk are looking for a passionate and dedicated Secondary School Biology Teacher to join a welcoming and ambitious school in Watford.

The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging Biology lessons, encourage scientific curiosity, and help develop a strong understanding and enthusiasm for the subject across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT who is looking to build their career within a supportive school environment and make a meaningful difference to students’ academic development.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Biology across Key Stages 3–5 (or Years 7–12), adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and practical lessons in line with the relevant curriculum.
Use practical experiments and investigations to bring Biology concepts to life and encourage scientific enquiry.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to support continued development.
Promote high standards of health and safety, particularly when working in laboratory and practical environments.
Create an organised, positive, and stimulating learning environment.
Encourage students to develop curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in departmental meetings, and contribute to curriculum planning and development.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have

A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related subject.
A recognised teaching qualification/certification such as QTS, or relevant classroom experience.
Strong subject knowledge across Biology and an understanding of appropriate laboratory techniques for secondary education.
Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
A genuine passion for Biology and the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
A positive and committed approach to supporting students and contributing to the wider school community.
