About the Role
Are you an experienced Design Technology (DT) and Food Technician looking for your next opportunity within a school environment?
Complete Classroom Services is currently seeking a skilled, reliable and enthusiastic DT & Food Technician to join a supportive secondary school in Southwark.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and organised individual who enjoys supporting teachers and students and has relevant previous experience working within a school DT, Food Technology or similar practical department.
You will play an important role in ensuring lessons run smoothly by preparing specialist equipment, materials and ingredients, maintaining workshops and food technology rooms, and supporting teachers during practical lessons.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and organise DT equipment, tools, materials and resources for practical lessons.
* Prepare ingredients, equipment and workstations for Food Technology lessons.
* Support teachers during practical lessons, demonstrations and student activities.
* Ensure workshops, classrooms and food technology areas are clean, safe and well organised.
* Maintain and safely store tools, machinery, equipment and materials.
* Carry out routine checks and report any damaged or faulty equipment.
* Ensure appropriate health & safety and COSHH procedures are followed.
* Support the safe use of machinery, tools and specialist DT equipment.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials, ingredients and resources.
* Maintain accurate records of equipment and consumable supplies.
* Assist with cleaning and maintaining food preparation areas in line with appropriate hygiene standards.
* Help prepare resources for examinations, projects, displays and school events.
* Work closely with teaching staff to provide an effective and well-organised learning environment.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Relevant previous experience working within a school DT, Food Technology or similar practical department – essential.
* Practical knowledge of Design Technology and/or Food Technology.
* Experience preparing equipment, materials and resources for lessons.
* Good understanding of school health & safety procedures and COSHH.
* Knowledge of safe working practices when using tools, machinery and specialist equipment.
* Good food hygiene knowledge would be desirable.
* Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
* A proactive, reliable and practical approach to work.
* The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
* Good communication skills and confidence working alongside teachers and students.
