The Role - Behaviour Mentor
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Enfield is seeking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its pastoral support team on a long-term basis starting ASAP.
As the successful Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students across KS3 and KS4, providing one-to-one and small-group support to help students manage their behaviour, develop positive relationships and remain engaged with their education.
You will support students who may present with challenging behaviour, social and emotional needs or difficulties engaging positively with school. You will help students develop strategies to manage their behaviour, improve their confidence and make positive choices throughout the school day.
You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SEN staff and school leadership to identify barriers to learning and provide appropriate support. You may also assist with behaviour interventions, mentoring sessions and helping students successfully reintegrate into lessons.
Previous experience working within education, youth work or a pastoral setting is desirable, along with experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs. Experience working with students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD or challenging behaviour would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be patient, resilient, approachable and confident in building positive relationships with young people. Strong communication skills, consistency and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations are essential.
