How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Technical Sales Engineer – Food Processing

    South / South West

    £40,000 – £50,000 DOE + Commission + Company Car

    Are you technically experienced within food processing and looking for an opportunity to develop your career commercially?

    A specialist engineering business supplying major UK food manufacturers is expanding its sales team and is open to speaking with technically strong people who have the personality, ambition and commercial instinct to develop into a successful field sales role.

    You don't necessarily need to be the finished salesperson.

    You could currently be working as a Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Project Engineer, Service Engineer, Refrigeration Engineer or Technical Account Manager within the food processing, refrigeration, freezing or wider food manufacturing sector.

    The Opportunity

    You'll work with existing and prospective food manufacturing customers, understanding their operations, identifying opportunities and developing commercially valuable relationships.

    You'll receive support from an experienced management team while being given the freedom to develop your own customer base and territory.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Visiting food manufacturing and processing sites

    * Building relationships with Engineering, Operations and Procurement teams

    * Understanding customer processes, challenges and future requirements

    * Identifying opportunities for equipment, projects and services

    * Developing existing customer relationships

    * Generating and developing new business

    * Managing opportunities through the sales process

    * Working with management to develop territory and account plans

    The Person

    Technical understanding and attitude are more important than having spent ten years in sales.

    We're looking for someone who:

    * Understands food manufacturing or processing environments

    * Has a technical/engineering background

    * Is comfortable dealing directly with customers

    * Can build credible relationships with engineers and operational teams

    * Has commercial awareness and can recognise an opportunity

    * Is ambitious, proactive and prepared to create their own success

    * Wants to develop their career further into technical sales

    This is an opportunity to join at the beginning of a new commercial strategy rather than stepping into a rigid, established sales structure.

    If you're technically strong, good with customers and have always felt you could make the move into a more commercially focused position, we'd particularly like to hear from you.

    Package: £40,000 – £50,000 DOE + commission + company car + benefits
