How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    *

Assisting with the preparation and administration of subcontract orders and contracts

    *

Managing subcontractor valuations, applications and payment processes alongside the wider commercial team

    *

Assisting with monthly cost and value reports, forecasts and cash flow

    *

Supporting the management of variations, change control and commercial risks

    *

Assisting with the review and agreement of subcontractor accounts and final accounts

    *

Working closely with the project team to identify commercial opportunities and potential issues

    *

Building relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and consultants

    *

Supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and gaining exposure to the wider commercial management of projects

    About You

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is looking to develop their career within a main contracting environment.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    *

Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate Quantity Surveyor within construction

    *

Ideally some experience working for a main contractor, although strong consultancy/PQS backgrounds will also be considered

    *

A relevant Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management degree, or be working towards one

    *

Good understanding of construction contracts, procurement and subcontract management

    *

Strong numerical and commercial skills with good attention to detail

    *

Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships with project teams and the supply chain

    Career Development

The business has a genuine focus on developing its commercial team, with structured pathways in place for those looking to progress their careers.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Senior Commercial Managers, benefit from genuine mentorship and knowledge sharing, and take on increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

There is a clear opportunity to progress through the commercial team towards Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor level.

    What's on Offer

    *

Up to £40,000 salary, depending on experience

    *

    Up to £4,000 car allowance

    *

    Discretionary bonus
