Location: Wisbech, Norfolk
Salary: £40,000 – £48,000 DOE
Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join an established engineering business specialising in electrical control systems and industrial automation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically experienced engineer who has a strong understanding of electrical design, UK/European electrical standards and CAD-based design packages.

The company is open-minded regarding background. You do not necessarily need to have every automation or controls skill from day one. The key requirement is a solid electrical engineering foundation, experience producing electrical designs and the ability to communicate confidently with customers.

Key Responsibilities

* Design electrical control systems and associated electrical schematics

* Produce and modify electrical drawings using EPLAN and CAD

* Design equipment in accordance with relevant electrical standards, particularly EN 60204

* Produce electrical documentation, drawings, schedules and technical information

* Interpret customer specifications and translate requirements into practical electrical designs

* Liaise directly with customers regarding technical requirements and project progress

* Work closely with engineering, production and project teams

* Support projects from initial design through manufacture and delivery

* Assist with technical queries and design modifications

* Ensure designs meet relevant quality, safety and regulatory requirements

Essential Requirements

* Strong electrical engineering knowledge and understanding

* Good knowledge of electrical standards applicable within the UK, particularly EN 60204

* Experience producing electrical designs/schematics

* Experience using EPLAN

* CAD experience

* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings

* Ability to work effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams

Desirable Experience

Any additional experience within the following areas would be advantageous, but is not essential:

* Electrical control panels

* LV switchgear

* MCCs

* Industrial automation

* PLC/HMI systems

* Machinery or machine control systems

* Control panel manufacturing

* FAT/testing

* Commissioning and fault finding

* Project engineering

* AutoCAD Electrical

* System integration or machine building

Candidate Background

This position could suit someone currently working as an:

Electrical Design Engineer, Electrical Controls Engineer, Control Panel Design Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer, Controls Design Engineer or an electrically biased engineer looking to develop further within controls and automation.

The most important attributes are a strong electrical understanding, knowledge of EN 60204, EPLAN/CAD capability and the confidence to communicate effectively with customers.
