TeacherActive is currently recruiting experienced and passionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEND school in the DE15 area for both full time and part time roles.

The school supports children and young people with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Disorders, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and behavioural difficulties.

These are temp-to-perm opportunities, making them ideal for Teaching Assistants looking to find the right school and progress into a permanent position.

Your Role Will Include:

• Supporting pupils with a variety of complex SEND needs
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils access learning at an appropriate level
• Supporting communication and social development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
• Building trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting pupils with their individual education and care plans
• Working alongside teachers and other SEND professionals
• Creating a safe, positive and engaging learning environment

The Successful SEND Teaching Assistant Will:

• Have relevant experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• Be confident supporting pupils with complex and varied needs
• Be resilient, patient and adaptable
• Have experience managing challenging behaviour
• Be comfortable working with pupils with ASD, MLD, SLD and communication needs
• Have strong relationship-building skills
• Be passionate about helping young people achieve their individual potential
• Be looking for a role where they can develop and potentially progress into a permanent position
