How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £28,623 per annum

    KUSCO (Kingston University Service Company Ltd) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Kingston University, established in December 1997. We are a non-profit making organisation providing facilities management and essential support services across Kingston University.

    As a Customer Services Assistant, you’ll be one of the key points of contact for students, staff, visitors and members of the public across the University's campuses.

    The Role – Customer Services Assistant
    As a Customer Services Assistant, you’ll provide a friendly, professional and efficient service to students, staff, visitors and members of the public.
    Your role will be varied, with your main responsibilities focused on reception, switchboard or office administration, while also supporting other areas of the Customer Services team when required.
    You'll be an important point of contact for the University, helping people find the information and support they need while ensuring reception and administrative services operate smoothly.
    As our Customer Services Assistant, you will be responsible for:
    * Welcoming students, staff and visitors, providing professional assistance, information and directions
    * Supporting reception, switchboard and customer services across University campuses
    * Liaising with Security and Campus Support during incidents and emergencies, recording and reporting actions where required
    * Managing key administrative duties including car parking, ID cards, secure transits, lost property, work orders and general records
    * Assisting with University events including Open Days, Graduations and Welcome Weeks, while maintaining clean, professional reception areas
    * Raising and progressing orders, liaising with suppliers and contractors, and support purchase requisitions and payments
    * Following GDPR and confidentiality requirements whilst completing training on new systems
    What we're looking for:
    * Previous experience in customer service, reception, administration or a similar public-facing environment
    * Good verbal and written communication skills
    * Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
    * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
    * Confidence to use your own initiative and make sensible decisions
    * A professional, smart and well-presented manner
    * The ability to work effectively as part of a team
    It would be great if you had:
    * Experience working in a busy reception, switchboard or office environment
    * Experience dealing with a wide range of customers, visitors or members of the public
    * Previous experience within a university, education, healthcare, facilities or large-site environment
    * Experience using call logging, ordering or administrative systems
    * Experience dealing with contractors, suppliers or external service providers
    * An understanding of confidentiality and GDPR requirements
