Salary: Up to £70,000 depending on experience

We are delighted to be supporting a leading technology-focused manufacturing organisation in the appointment of an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager.
 
This is a key leadership position, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the organisation's HSE strategy while playing a central role in developing a proactive, positive and continually improving health, safety and environmental culture.
 
Reporting to a senior member of the leadership team, you will provide strategic direction alongside hands-on operational leadership, working closely with leaders and employees across the business to ensure high standards of HSE performance, compliance and employee engagement.
 
The Role
As Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of the organisation's HSE strategy, ensuring that statutory obligations and management system requirements are consistently met.
You will be responsible for:

Leading the development of a positive and proactive Health, Safety & Environmental culture across the organisation.
Providing expert HSE advice, guidance and support to leaders and colleagues at all levels.
Maintaining and managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification and associated management systems.
Ensuring compliance with relevant UK Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and statutory requirements.
Developing and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, standards and the legal compliance register.
Leading continual improvement programmes, establishing appropriate HSE objectives, targets, metrics and KPIs.
Identifying opportunities to improve HSE performance and implementing effective improvement plans.
Leading and supporting the Health & Safety Committee, encouraging employee engagement and ownership.
Managing, developing and supporting members of the HSE team.
Overseeing risk assessments, safety inspections, emergency preparedness, fire safety and related HSE activities.
Ensuring accidents and near misses are appropriately recorded, investigated and followed through to completion.
Managing relevant statutory reporting, including RIDDOR requirements.
Maintaining appropriate environmental controls, including aspects and impacts assessments.
Supporting effective management of environmental risks, waste, pollution, noise and other environmental compliance requirements.
Preparing HSE reports and presenting performance, actions and improvement plans to senior leadership.
Hosting and supporting external ISO audits and ensuring corrective actions are effectively managed.
Working collaboratively with wider Group HSE stakeholders to share best practice and ensure alignment with organisational expectations. About You
We are looking for an experienced HSE professional who is confident operating at both strategic and operational levels and who can influence positive change across a manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:

Proven experience in a similar Health, Safety & Environmental management role; manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
A recognised environmental qualification appropriate to the role.
Strong knowledge of UK Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
Experience developing and maintaining HSE management systems, policies and procedures.
Experience with risk assessment, incident investigation, compliance monitoring and continual improvement.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.
Excellent analytical, organisational, report-writing and problem-solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
The ability to coach, influence and challenge constructively in order to drive meaningful improvements in HSE performance. An internal auditor qualification, COSHH training and experience of environmental management systems would also be advantageous.
