How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job title: Commercial Assistant

    Job Type: Contract

    Start date: Immediate

    Duration: Up to Dec 2026 (12 month rolling contract)

    Pay rate: Up to £125 PAYE per day, £170 Umbrella per day

    Location: Gloucester

    Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 5 days per week. 3 days minimum on site, subject to change

    The Commercial Assistant will provide proactive commercial and administrative support to teams managing professional service contracts on a major nuclear project. The role will support the day-to-day management of purchase orders, accruals, budgets and resource requirements, while providing accurate management information, financial reporting and analysis to help maintain strong commercial control. Working closely with delivery teams and internal stakeholders, the Commercial Assistant will also assist with problem-solving, progress meetings and ad-hoc business requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical and Excel skills, experience supporting financial or contract management activities, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work proactively across multiple teams.

    Applicants should be able to demonstrate of the following skills/experience:

    Experience providing proactive commercial, financial or administrative support.
    Experience supporting financial and/or contract management activities.
    Strong numerical skills with the ability to analyse, interrogate and report data.
    Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for reporting and data analysis.
    Experience managing or supporting budgets, purchase orders, accruals and spend.
    Ability to provide accurate management information to support delivery teams.
    Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across different teams.
    Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
    Proactive, adaptable and willing to learn new processes and systems quickly.
    Previous experience working with SAP beneficialRole information:

    Provide commercial and administrative support to teams managing professional service contracts.
    Raise and manage purchase orders for goods and services.
    Ensure accruals and goods receipts are accurately maintained.
    Monitor and manage spend against budgets throughout the year.
    Support changes to planned internal resource requirements.
    Provide management information to delivery teams on budgets, resources and portfolio activity.
    Analyse financial and commercial data to support effective budget control.
    Assist with problem-solving and resolving issues affecting packages of work.
    Provide supporting commercial and financial information at progress meetings.
    Liaise with internal stakeholders to support commercial and business processes.
    Help ensure resources and budgets are effectively aligned with changing priorities.
