How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
    Project Duration: 3+ Years
Reporting To: Project Director / Information Manager

    The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Document Controller to join a major construction and regeneration project in Luton.

The successful candidate will be based on site and play a key role in maintaining the project's document control and information management processes. This is a high-profile, multi-year development requiring someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable working within a demanding Tier 1-style project environment.

The project encompasses significant construction activity, including demolition, remediation, excavation, groundworks and reinforced concrete frame works, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced Document Controller to become an integral part of a major development team.

    The Role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and control of project information, ensuring documentation is correctly registered, reviewed, distributed and archived.

Working closely with the project management, engineering, design and subcontractor teams, you will help ensure that everyone is working from the latest approved information and that project records remain accurate and fully traceable.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manage the project's Common Data Environment (CDE) and/or electronic document management system.

    * Control the uploading, reviewing, issuing and distribution of drawings, specifications, calculations, models and technical documentation.

    * Maintain document registers, revision histories, transmittals and distribution records.

    * Monitor document workflows and ensure information is issued to the appropriate project stakeholders within required timescales.

    * Carry out quality checks on documentation, including revisions, metadata, numbering and status codes.

    * Manage RFIs, technical submissions, site instructions and associated project records.

    * Ensure superseded information is appropriately identified and controlled to prevent outdated documentation being used on site.

    * Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers, Project Managers, Design Teams, Consultants and Subcontractors to maintain an efficient information flow.

    * Produce regular document control and information status reports for the project management team.

    * Monitor outstanding reviews, approvals and overdue documentation.

    * Assist with project audits and ensure information management procedures are consistently followed.

    * Maintain structured electronic filing systems and support the preparation of project information for handover and completion.

    * Support the wider project team with document control and information management requirements as the development progresses.

    Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a large-scale construction environment, ideally within a Tier 1 contractor or on a major infrastructure, commercial or regeneration project.

    You should have:

    * Proven experience working as a Document Controller within construction.

    * Experience working on complex, high-volume projects.

    * Strong knowledge of construction documentation and drawing control.

    * Experience using a CDE / EDMS, such as Aconex, Asite, Procore, Viewpoint/4Projects or similar.

    * A good understanding of document revisions, workflows, transmittals and technical submissions.

    * Familiarity with ISO 19650 principles and structured information management.

    * An understanding of BIM-related information and construction drawing processes.

    * Experience working with structural, civil, groundworks or reinforced concrete packages would be advantageous.

    * Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

    * Good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and PDF documentation.

    * Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of information accurately.

    * Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with multiple project stakeholders.

    * A proactive approach, with the ability to identify and resolve document control issues before they impact the project.

    Why Join?

This is a long-term opportunity on a significant regeneration project, offering:

£40,000 – £48,000 salary, dependent on relevant experience.

A 3+ year project duration providing excellent stability.

The opportunity to work on a major development within Luton.

Exposure to a complex, high-value construction environment.

Potential for career progression as the project and wider business develop.

    A collaborative and fast-moving site-based working environment.
