Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Job Type: Contract role for roughly 3 months beginning ASAP.
Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire - Office Based

We are seeking an experienced and committed Financial Controller to join a dedicated Finance Team on a contract basis.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Financial Controller will oversee the Trust's financial operations, provide strong financial leadership and line-manage a team of finance professionals.

This is a key role within the organisation, responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance, supporting effective financial planning and safeguarding the Trust's overall financial position.

You will join a collaborative finance team made up of experienced professionals, newer team members and colleagues working towards their finance qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all financial operations across the Trust.
Line-manage, support and develop members of the Finance Team.
Report directly to the CFO, providing accurate and timely financial information and advice.
Ensure robust financial reporting and compliance with statutory, regulatory and Trust requirements.
Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and monitoring across the Trust.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, financial regulations and academy funding requirements.
Support and coordinate external audits and regulatory reviews.
Develop and improve finance processes, systems and internal controls.
Analyse complex financial information and provide clear, commercially focused insight to support decision-making.Candidate requirements:

ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, with significant experience in a financial management role.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance position.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to interpret and communicate complex financial information.
Strong financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
Experience with PS Financials, Sage or FMS would be advantageous.
A high level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail.
The ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership and using initiative.Key Skills
