Location: Chatham
Contract: Temporary (3-6 Months)
Pay Rate: £20.70 per hour
About the Role
Our Client is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their Housing team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with experience in homelessness prevention, housing advice, and case management to make a meaningful difference to vulnerable households.
You will provide specialist housing advice and support to individuals and families facing homelessness or housing difficulties, helping them identify suitable housing solutions and preventing homelessness wherever possible. This role requires strong case management skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide housing advice, guidance, and practical support to individuals and families in housing need.
* Undertake homelessness assessments and determine appropriate duties and interventions.
* Work proactively to prevent and relieve homelessness through negotiation, mediation, and support planning.
* Develop and implement Personal Housing Plans tailored to individual circumstances.
* Support customers in accessing social housing, private rented accommodation, supported housing, and other housing options.
* Liaise with landlords, housing providers, social care teams, voluntary organisations, and other partner agencies.
* Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring accurate records and compliance with relevant legislation.
* Conduct thorough investigations and contribute to homelessness decision-making processes.
* Support vulnerable customers by identifying barriers to housing and arranging appropriate interventions.
* Attend case conferences, multi-agency meetings, and outreach activities as required.
About You
* Previous experience within housing options, homelessness prevention, housing advice, or a related housing service.
* Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing law.
* Experience working with vulnerable households and complex casework.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
* Strong record-keeping and IT skills.
* Customer-focused with a compassionate and professional approach.
* Equivalent housing qualification at Level 2
