Head of Development (Projects)

Salary – Competitive and subject to experience

As a Head of Development (Projects) at FCC Environment, you will lead and be responsible for all aspects of Recycling & Waste Treatment business development activities. You will identify and develop growth opportunities, negotiate new service contracts, support strategic acquisitions, and play a key role in shaping and delivering FCC Environment's waste management strategy. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

- Leading the development and delivery of FCC Environment's Recycling & Waste Treatment growth strategy
- Identifying, assessing and securing new business and project development opportunities
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Negotiating commercially viable agreements and implementing new services
- Working closely with operational teams, bidding teams and internal stakeholders to deliver growth projects
- Supporting strategic acquisition opportunities and contract development activities
- Managing and developing the Regional Development Team
- Providing strategic market intelligence and identifying future procurement opportunities
- Representing FCC Environment at industry events, conferences and stakeholder meetings
- Preparing and presenting business cases and development proposals to senior leadership teams

What are we looking for?

- Significant senior management experience within the waste management sector
- Proven experience delivering successful business development and growth programmes
- Strong commercial awareness and contract negotiation skills
- Experience managing complex contracts, projects or operational networks
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities
- Experience working with Local Authorities and other key industry stakeholders
- Highly numerate and IT literate with excellent analytical skills
- Relevant management, engineering or related professional qualifications
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills
