Data Engineer(Mostly Remote)

Job Summary: Build Azure based services and APIs that supply approved healthcare data to dashboards and publications. Make data transfer, refresh and access reliable, with clear behaviour when inputs change or processing fails.

Responsibilities

* Develop APIs and serving components with clear schemas, validation, filtering, versioning and useful errors.

* Integrate approved upstream data and reconcile it with the outputs made available to consumers.

* Implement safe retries, repeatable ingestion, failure handling and controlled refresh.

* Apply service identity, access and release controls so each audience receives the appropriate information.

* Create integration and contract tests, monitoring, deployment configuration and recovery guidance.

Essential experience

* Experience with C#, Entity Framework Core (EF Core), Microsoft Azure, and .NET Core / .NET 8 / .NET 10

* Production backend development on Microsoft Azure and strong coding in a language relevant to the service.

* API design, data integration, schema evolution and automated testing.

* Practical experience with idempotent processing, retries, observability and failure recovery.

* Ability to diagnose integration defects and work closely with data and frontend engineers.

Assignment focus

* Publication services: supply approved metric data to public products and support their refresh requirements.

* Public APIs: implement the agreed query, classification and release behaviour for external consumers.

* The position uses the Azure services and backend language selected for the solution; experience is assessed against that implementation.
