Unlike a standard production role where you may work on the same process every day, as a Float Operator you'll be trained across multiple areas of production, stepping in where support is needed and developing a broad range of practical manufacturing skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is adaptable, hands-on and eager to learn, with ongoing work and genuine permanent prospects for the right person.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Float Operator, you'll support different areas of the manufacturing process, helping the wider team maintain production, quality and safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out bonding, cutting and grinding processes
Operating test beds and heating lamps
Moving between different production areas depending on operational requirements
Supporting machine operation and basic machine set-up
Following Standard Operating Procedures and detailed work instructions
Carrying out quality checks on raw materials and finished products
Checking your work carefully to ensure quality standards are achieved
Accurately recording production information
Using computer systems to enter and update information where required
Identifying faults, defects or inconsistencies and reporting these promptly
Supporting colleagues to meet production targets and deadlines
Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
Following health and safety requirements at all times

What We're Looking For

This role is all about flexibility and willingness to learn. Because you'll be supporting different production areas, you'll need to be comfortable adapting to different tasks and processes.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

Previous manufacturing, production or industrial experience
A strong work ethic and reliable approach to attendance
Excellent attention to detail
A quality-focused approach to work
Good IT and data entry skills
The ability to follow detailed processes and instructions
A willingness to learn new production processes
A flexible approach to moving between different areas and tasks
Good problem-solving skills
A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved

The ability to maintain accuracy while working towards production targets

Desirable Experience

It would be advantageous if you have previous experience with:

Operating machinery within a manufacturing environment
Basic machine set-up
Technical or hands-on production processes
Working to defined production targets
Quality checking or inspection
Working within a structured manufacturing environmentDon't worry if you haven't done everything listed above. Full training will be provided, and we're particularly interested in candidates who have the right attitude and are keen to develop their skills.
