The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Solutions Architect to join a well-established organisation operating within the technology, engineering and infrastructure sector.
This is a senior technical role combining software architecture, Azure Local, cloud technology and customer engagement. You will work closely with software engineers, internal stakeholders and external clients to understand business challenges and translate them into practical, scalable technology solutions.
A key focus of the role will be designing new software products for Azure Local, while identifying opportunities to reuse, adapt and expand existing software solutions into new applications and markets.
The position has no direct reports, but you will provide technical leadership within a matrix-managed team.
Key Responsibilities
* Design software solutions across Azure Local, on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments.
* Lead the architecture and design of new software products, with a particular focus on Azure Local.
* Understand existing software products, architectures and the capabilities of the wider development team.
* Work with internal stakeholders and external clients to understand business challenges, technical requirements and potential opportunities.
* Assess whether existing products can be reused, adapted or extended, or whether new solutions need to be developed.
* Identify opportunities to expand current software solutions beyond their traditional asset management applications.
* Translate customer requirements into clear, scalable and commercially viable technical solutions.
* Work closely with software engineers throughout the development lifecycle, providing architectural guidance and technical direction.
* Support integration through APIs, middleware and microservices and promote effective DevOps and CI/CD practices.
* Identify opportunities where technology can support wider business growth and new market opportunities.
* Provide technical leadership within a matrix environment, influencing multidisciplinary teams without direct line-management responsibility.
Experience & Skills
* Strong experience with Azure Local, including designing and developing software solutions for Azure Local environments.
* Experience working across cloud, on-premise and hybrid architectures.
* Strong background in software architecture, solution design and new software product development.
* Good understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, middleware and microservices.
* Programming experience or a strong software development background using C#, Python, Java and/or C/C++.
* Ability to understand complex client problems and map them to appropriate technology solutions.
* Excellent ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.
* Ability to act as the bridge between software engineers, customers and non-technical stakeholders.
* Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities to apply existing technology to new customers, applications and markets.
About You
You may currently be working as a Solutions Architect, Software Architect, Technical Architect or Lead Software Engineer and be looking for a position that combines technical architecture with greater customer and commercial involvement.
You will have the technical credibility to work effectively with software engineering teams, while being equally comfortable engaging with customers and senior stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be able to look beyond the immediate technical requirement, understand what the customer is trying to achieve and determine how existing or new technology can provide the right solution.
