How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Role

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic and resilient Business Development / Appointment Booker to join a growing commercial team within the construction and built-environment sector.

This is a phone-based business development role, focused on identifying and engaging with prospective clients, building relationships with new contacts and booking qualified meetings for the senior Business Development team.

You'll be working from a defined target list, making outbound calls, introducing the business and its services, speaking with key decision-makers and creating genuine opportunities for the wider sales team.

This isn't a high-pressure telesales environment. The focus is on having good conversations, building rapport and opening doors rather than trying to close a deal over the phone.

    What You'll Be Doing

Making outbound calls to prospective clients within the construction and built-environment sectors
Speaking with new contacts and identifying relevant decision-makers
Introducing the business and creating interest in its services
Qualifying prospects and identifying genuine opportunities
Booking meetings for the senior Business Development team
Following up with prospects and maintaining regular contact
Working systematically through an agreed target list
Maintaining accurate records of calls, conversations and opportunities within the CRM
Working towards agreed activity and meeting-booking targets
Building a strong understanding of the company's services, market and target customers
Working closely with the wider BD and sales team to maximise opportunitiesAbout You

We're looking for someone who is naturally confident and comfortable speaking to people on the phone.

You don't need to be an experienced salesperson or a polished business development professional. What's more important is your attitude, resilience and ability to have a good conversation with someone you've never spoken to before.

    You'll ideally have:

Experience working within construction, building products, interiors, fit-out, architecture or a related sector
Previous experience in a phone-based sales, business development, lead generation, telesales or appointment-setting role
A confident and professional telephone manner
The ability to build rapport quickly with new contacts
Resilience when dealing with rejection and unanswered calls
A persistent and proactive approach to following up prospects
Good organisation and attention to detail
The ability to work consistently towards activity and meeting targets
Basic CRM experience and good administrative discipline
A positive, enthusiastic and personable approachThe Right Personality

This role would suit someone who enjoys speaking to people, picking up the phone and creating opportunities, but isn't necessarily looking to become a traditional high-pressure salesperson.

You'll need to be comfortable hearing "no", moving on and making the next call.

We're looking for someone who is happy to make outbound calls every day, enjoys the process of opening conversations and takes satisfaction from booking quality meetings for the wider team.

There is potential for progression into a broader Business Development role over time for the right person, but the immediate focus of the position is appointment setting and generating new opportunities.

    The Sector

You'll be working with clients and contacts across the construction and built-environment sector, so previous industry experience is important. Experience in areas such as construction, building materials, fit-out, interiors, architecture, furniture or related B2B environments would be particularly relevant
