A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Materials Buyer to join a well-established specialist brickwork contractor based in the Chigwell/Essex area. 
 
Due to ongoing growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, the company is looking to strengthen its procurement team with an individual who has a strong understanding of brickwork, masonry materials and the supply chain that supports large-scale construction projects.
 
This role will be instrumental in ensuring materials are procured competitively, delivered on time and managed effectively across multiple sites. The successful candidate will become a key part of the business and play an important role in supporting project delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
 
The Role

Procuring brickwork and associated construction materials for multiple live projects
Obtaining competitive quotations and negotiating with suppliers
Raising and managing purchase orders
Coordinating deliveries to meet project programmes and site requirements
Building and maintaining relationships with brick, block and construction material suppliers
Monitoring material costs and identifying value engineering opportunities
Working closely with commercial, operational and site teams
Managing stock levels and lead times to avoid programme delays
Resolving supply chain issues and sourcing alternative materials when necessary
Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting information You'll Also Have
Previous experience as a Materials Buyer, Construction Buyer or Assistant Buyer
A strong background in brickwork, masonry or specialist subcontracting
Good knowledge of bricks, blocks, mortar and associated construction materials
Experience working within the construction industry
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
Good commercial awareness and cost control knowledge
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
