Senior support worker- Day to day duties:

Lead shifts confidently, ensuring routines, care plans and risk assessments are followed throughout the day.
*
Provide consistent, child‑centred support that promotes safety, emotional wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes.
*
Build trusting, professional relationships with young people and act as a stable role model.
*
Support staff on shift, offering guidance, direction and modelling high‑quality practice.
*
Complete accurate daily logs, incident reports, safeguarding records and behaviour observations.
*
Respond to incidents using de‑escalation skills and follow behaviour support plans to maintain a safe environment.
*
Help plan and deliver meaningful activities, education support and life‑skills development.
*
Maintain a warm, homely environment through appropriate boundaries, routines and positive engagement.
*
Work collaboratively with colleagues, attending handovers, team meetings and reflective practice sessions.
*
Communicate professionally with families, social workers and external agencies when required.
*
Support medication administration and health‑related tasks in line with training and individual care plans.
*
Uphold safeguarding, Ofsted standards and all company policies at all times.
Requirements as a Senior support worker:
As a Senior Support Worker, you must:
* Have experience in children’s residential care
* Have the ability to lead shifts professionally and safely.
* Understand safeguarding, behaviour support and accurate record‑keeping.
* You are expected to hold a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (or be working towards it) and demonstrate confident shift leadership.
To succeed as a Senior Support Worker, you’ll need resilience, reliability and the ability to remain calm and child‑centred in challenging situations.
