How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Behaviour Mentor - Alternative Provision & SEMH
    Full-Time & Long-Term Opportunities | Aspire People

    Aspire People are looking for experienced Behaviour Mentors to support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across schools, alternative provisions and specialist settings.

    This role is particularly suited to candidates who have already worked with young people who have struggled to engage with mainstream education and understand the importance of consistency, boundaries and positive relationships.

    The Role:
    * Providing 1:1 and small-group support
    * Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
    * Helping pupils re-engage with learning and education
    * Managing and de-escalating challenging situations
    * Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
    * Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils
    * Delivering mentoring and targeted interventions
    * Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured periods
    * Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals

    The Ideal Candidate:
    * Experience working within alternative provision, PRUs or specialist settings
    * Professional experience supporting pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour
    * Confident managing challenging situations calmly and consistently
    * Strong understanding of behaviour and emotional regulation
    * Resilient, patient and adaptable approach
    * Able to establish clear boundaries while building positive relationships
    * Previous 1:1 support experience is highly desirable
