How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Area Sales Manager (Engineering)

    South of England (Home based Role) £50,000 - £60,000 Basic + Company Car / £550 Monthly Car Allowance + Bonus OTE £72,000 + Benefits

    This is an opportunity to join a highly successful and growing UK manufacturer which is growing 10% year on year.   The business designs, develops, manufactures and installs all of their own bespoke products through a combination of sheet metal and fabrication manufacturing processes.   The UK business employs 150, turns over in excess of £30 million a year and part of wider group that employs over 600 staff. 

    The business has grown historically through a combination of organic and acquisitional growth and now have an extensive product range that gives them a strong brand in the market and competitive advantages over their competition.

    The business is looking to recruit a Area Sales Manager for the South of England with immediate effect.    The business is looking for someone who has sales background within engineering who has a consultative sales style and has the appetite and hunger to win business.   If this sounds like you please apply online.

    The Role

    Covering the South of England, the Area Sales Manager will be responsible for managing a territory generating significant levels of inbound enquiry while also developing new business opportunities within key target sectors.

    Approximately 80% of your activity will be focused on key accounts and incoming project enquiries, allowing you to spend your time understanding customer requirements, conducting site visits and developing tailored technical solutions.   Competition in the sector is strong so when meeting new clients your key role is to understand their uniqueness of their requirement and what problem the customer needs to solve so you can provide the right solution to the customer to win the order.  This is not a catalogue sales role, success comes from understanding customer processes, identifying challenges and delivering bespoke project-based solutions.

    Typical project values range from £35,000 to £80,000, with sales cycles usually lasting between two weeks and three months.   The territory will come with an annual target of £1.4 million, around two thirds of the revenue the client wins is in the food and beverage sector with other key markets being pharmaceutical and chemical.   You can expect to be out on the road conducting typically 6-8 customer visits a week.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage and develop customer relationships across the South of England.
    Respond to and convert incoming project enquiries.
    Conduct customer meetings and site surveys.
    Understand manufacturing processes and operational challenges.
    Develop technically appropriate filtration and extraction solutions.
    Prepare and present commercial proposals.
    Manage projects through the sales cycle from enquiry to order.
    Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM records.
    Deliver territory sales and profitability targets.
    Identify new opportunities within existing and prospective accounts.
    Work closely with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure successful project handovers.
    Monitor market trends and competitor activity.
