Are you a practical, creative and organised individual with experience supporting Design Technology and/or Art within a school or educational setting?

We are currently recruiting for a DT & Art Technician to join a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Newham, East London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical background who enjoys working with young people and supporting teachers to deliver engaging practical lessons.

The Role

As a DT & Art Technician, you will play an important role in supporting the school's DT and Art departments. Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and setting up materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons.

Supporting teachers during DT and Art lessons.

Ensuring classrooms, workshops and specialist areas are clean, organised and ready for use.

Maintaining and checking equipment, tools and resources.

Assisting with stock control and ordering materials when required.

Supporting students with the safe and appropriate use of equipment and materials.

Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Helping with the preparation, display and storage of students' work.

Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs where appropriate.

Working closely with teaching staff to ensure practical lessons run smoothly.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful DT & Art Technician will ideally have:

Previous experience working in a DT, Art, workshop or practical environment.

Good knowledge of tools, materials and practical equipment.

A strong understanding of health and safety procedures.

Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved.

Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

Previous experience working in a secondary school would be advantageous, but is not essential.
