How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Receptionist / Administrator


    Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum DOE

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

    Contract: Full-time, Permanent

    Working Arrangement: Fully office-based

    Based: Barnet, North London

    Benefits: 28 days’ annual leave including bank holidays + free on-site parking


    About the Company

    We are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing business operating within the security, safety and automation sector. The company provides a range of specialist solutions and services to residential, commercial and educational clients, with expertise across areas including security systems, CCTV, access control, fire detection, networking and other integrated technology solutions. With a strong reputation for customer service, reliability and responsive support, the business works with a diverse client base and provides both installation and ongoing maintenance services. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Receptionist / Administrator to join their busy office-based team. This is a key role within the business, combining front-of-house responsibilities with general administration and providing support to customers, engineers, suppliers and internal teams.


    The Role

    We are looking for an organised, confident and personable Receptionist / Administrator who enjoys working in a busy, fast-paced and active office environment.

    You will be the first point of contact for the business, handling incoming calls and emails, welcoming visitors and ensuring enquiries are dealt with professionally and efficiently.

    Alongside the front-of-house element, you will provide a broad range of administrative support across the business. This will include updating internal systems, maintaining accurate records, assisting with customer and engineer administration, and ensuring information is communicated effectively between different teams. The ideal candidate will have at least three years' experience in a similar reception, administration, office coordination or customer-facing role. You should be comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change throughout the day and where being proactive, organised and able to multitask is essential. Experience within a technical, engineering, facilities, construction, security or service-based environment would be advantageous.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as the first point of contact for the business, providing a professional and welcoming front-of-house service.
    • Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, taking accurate messages and directing calls to the relevant team members.
    • Monitor and respond to incoming emails, ensuring enquiries are dealt with promptly and professionally.
    • Welcome and assist visitors, customers, contractors and suppliers.
    • Provide general administrative and office support to the wider team.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across internal systems.
    • Input, update and retrieve information from company databases and systems.
    • Assist with the administration and coordination of customer and engineer requirements.
    • Ensure relevant information is communicated accurately between customers, engineers and internal departments.
    • Maintain accurate job, customer and service records.
    • Prepare and organise documents, correspondence and general office paperwork.
    • Assist with the day-to-day administration of ongoing jobs and customer requirements.
    • Follow up on outstanding administrative tasks and ensure actions are completed within the required timescales.
    • Support the wider team with general administration and ad-hoc requests.
    • Ensure information entered onto internal systems is accurate and kept up to date.
    • Deal professionally and confidently with customers, suppliers and engineers via telephone and email.
    • Take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
    • Assist with the general organisation and smooth running of the office.
    • Provide support to other members of the team when required.


    About You

    The successful candidate will be confident, personable and highly organised, with the ability to work effectively in a busy office where there can be multiple priorities at any one time.


    You should have:

    • At least 3 years' experience in a receptionist, administrator, office coordinator or similar role.
    • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills.
    • A professional, friendly and approachable personality.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    • The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Good computer skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and internal systems.
    • The ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
    • A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
    • The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
    • The ability to remain calm, professional and organised within a fast-paced working environment.
    • A strong customer-service mindset.
    • Confidence communicating with customers, engineers, suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
    • A flexible approach and willingness to support the wider team when required.


    Desirable Experience

    The following experience would be advantageous but is not essential:

    • Previous experience within the security, engineering, facilities, construction or technical services sectors.
    • Experience working within a busy service-based or field-based business.
    • Previous experience supporting engineers, technicians or field-based teams.
    • Experience managing customer enquiries and service-related administration.
    • Experience working in an environment where priorities and workloads can change quickly.
