How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    An independent ecological consultancy based in Bristol is looking to appoint an Ecology Co-Ordinator to join its growing team. With involvement across a diverse range of projects, from residential developments and infrastructure schemes through to nationally significant projects within the energy, water and nuclear sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your consultancy career within a well-established and highly respected business.The team works on projects ranging from individual homeowner developments through to major infrastructure projects, including work associated with water pipelines, reservoirs and large-scale energy developments.     Your new role

    As Ecology Co-Ordinator, you will play a central role in supporting the delivery of ecological projects and surveys across the business. Acting as a key point of coordination between ecologists, subcontractors and project teams, you will help ensure projects are planned, resourced and delivered efficiently. This role offers a unique alternative to a traditional consultancy pathway, allowing you to remain closely involved in ecology while taking on a more desk based, operational position.
    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Scheduling surveys and coordinating fieldwork programmes
    • Managing ecologist and subcontractor availability
    • Supporting project planning and resource allocation
    • Coordinating equipment, licences and survey logistics
    • Maintaining ecological datasets, records and project information
    • Assisting with project administration and reporting processes
    • Liaising with internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery
    • Providing operational support to senior ecologists and project managers



    What you'll need to succeed

    • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
    • Previous experience within an ecology consultancy or environmental consultancy environment
    • Good understanding of ecological survey work and consultancy processes
    • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Strong attention to detail and administrative capability
    • Confidence using Microsoft Office and project management systems
    • Experience coordinating projects, resources or field teams would be highly advantageous
