How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The team specializes in bespoke solutions, customizing each fitting to match the specific requirements and technical constraints of individual projects. Archlum often works on projects requiring sophisticated lighting design, including daylight integration and advanced reflector technologies. For complex assignments, the company collaborates with renowned design partners such as Bartenbach to ensure high-quality project design and specialized fixture development. This collaborative, innovation-driven environment offers product designers the opportunity to work on unique, technically challenging lighting projects.

    Role Description The Product Designer will join Archlum’s bespoke lighting solutions, translating project requirements into functional, aesthetically compelling product designs. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing design concepts, creating visual and technical documentation, collaborating with engineers and product design managers, and refining fittings based on client specifications and performance criteria. The role involves conducting user-centered research where relevant, considering both end-user experience and architectural context, and iterating designs based on feedback from, internal teams, and external design partners. The Product Designer will also support cross-functional coordination , based in Manchester.

    Qualifications

    • Strong Product Design skills with the ability to take concepts from requirements through prototyping to final specification.
    • Proficiency in Visual Design and creating clear, detailed design documentation for bespoke lighting products.
    • Experience applying Design Thinking methods to solve complex design problems and balance aesthetics, functionality, and technical constraints.
    • Ability to conduct and interpret User Research and UX Research to inform product decisions and improve end-user experience where applicable.
    • Comfort working closely with engineers, architects, and external design partners on technical lighting solutions.
    • Knowledge of CAD or 3D modeling tools commonly used in product or industrial design.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to present and justify design decisions to diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience in lighting, architecture, or building-related product design is advantageous.
