Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing engineering and electrical manufacturing group on the appointment of a Group SHEQ Advisor.
Working closely with senior management, you will act as the key point of contact for SHEQ matters across the Group, with responsibility spanning Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, ISO management systems, auditing, incident investigation, contractor compliance and employee engagement.
In your new role:
- Act as the primary point of contact for SHEQ matters across multiple Group operations
- Maintain and continually improve the Integrated Management System in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Provide practical SHEQ advice and guidance to management, employees, contractors and other stakeholders
- Conduct workplace and site inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented
- Develop and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work
- Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, completing root cause analysis and tracking actions through to close-out
- Coordinate internal audits and support external certification and customer audits
- Monitor SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards, ensuring policies and procedures remain compliant
- Deliver SHEQ inductions, toolbox talks and employee awareness initiatives across the business
- Coordinate training requirements, competency records, health surveillance and relevant statutory inspections
- Manage contractor and subcontractor compliance, including PQQs, competency requirements and associated records
- Monitor SHEQ KPIs and performance trends, providing reports and recommendations to senior management
- Maintain accurate SHEQ documentation, registers and records to support compliance and certification requirements
- Promote a proactive culture of Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental responsibility and continuous improvement across the Group
What you'll need to succeed:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification
- 3+ years' experience within a SHEQ, Health & Safety, Quality or Compliance role
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of SHEQ responsibilities
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practical compliance requirements
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, internal audits and incident investigations
- Experience developing and reviewing RAMS and safe systems of work
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between Group and customer locations when required
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Degree, Diploma or additional qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality or a related discipline
- Internal Auditor qualification
- Experience within engineering, electrical manufacturing, construction or a similar technical environment
- Experience supporting external ISO certification or customer audits
- Experience using dedicated SHEQ management software
