How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Part-Time Charity Accountant / Finance Manager

    Contract: Permanent, part-time
    Salary: To be confirmed

Placr Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Charity Accountant or Finance Manager to join a well-established charitable organisation.

This is a varied, hands-on position with responsibility for the charity’s day-to-day financial operations, monthly management accounts, regulatory compliance, budgeting and financial reporting.

Working closely with the CEO, COO, Treasurer and Board of Trustees, you will provide clear financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making.

The role would suit a qualified accountant or someone qualified by experience who has strong charity-sector finance knowledge, including Charity SORP, FRS 102 and restricted fund accounting.

    The role

You will take responsibility for maintaining the charity’s financial records in Xero, including the nominal, purchase and sales ledgers, bank reconciliations, payments, aged receivables and the accurate processing of donations, grants and fundraising income.

You will prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, deferred income and accrued income. You will also produce financial reports and commentary for the senior leadership team, Treasurer and Board of Trustees.

A key part of the role will be managing restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring expenditure is recorded correctly and complies with funding and donor agreements.

You will work with budget holders to prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts while monitoring cash flow, liquidity and treasury activity.

The position will also involve reviewing internal financial controls, improving processes, safeguarding the charity’s assets and reducing the risk of fraud. You will liaise with external auditors and coordinate the year-end accounts and audit process.

From April 2027, the role will also take responsibility for payroll processing and associated HMRC compliance.

    About you

To be considered, you should have:

    *

An ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualification, or substantial charity finance experience with qualification by experience

    *

Strong knowledge of Charity SORP, FRS 102 and restricted and unrestricted fund accounting

    *

Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and year-end audit information

    *

Knowledge of charity tax compliance, including Gift Aid and VAT

    *

Strong working knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel skills

    *

The ability to explain financial information clearly to senior leaders, trustees and non-finance colleagues

You will be accurate, organised and comfortable working to deadlines. You should have a proactive and practical approach, with the ability to manage both transactional finance and higher-level reporting.

    Desirable experience

Experience preparing financial reports for major grant funders, including the National Lottery and charitable trusts, would be advantageous. Previous experience within an education, sport or community-focused organisation would also be beneficial, along with an interest in education, sport or football.

    Why apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a purpose-led organisation in an important position, helping to strengthen its financial controls, reporting and long-term financial planning.

    To apply

Please apply with your CV. Placr Recruitment will contact shortlisted candidates to discuss the organisation, working arrangements and role in further detail.
