How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Science Teacher
    Location: Putney, London, SW15 2BZ
    Salary: Salary commensurate on experience
    Job Type: Part Time, Permanent
    Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Term Time Only (Inclusive of 8 INSET days) Part-Time 2-3 days per week.

    Merlin School is a well-established independent co-educational pre-prep for children aged 3-8 years, situated in Putney, London. We are non-selective and truly inclusive, providing a highly individualised education with a focus on breadth in the curriculum.

    About the Role:
    The Science Teacher will oversee the Science curriculum, ensuring it remains engaging, well-structured and reflective of current scientific understanding. You will work closely with colleagues to support high-quality teaching, maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment, and contribute to the wider life of the school.
    This role suits a teacher who is organised, collaborative and eager to shape Science provision in a school that values creativity, warmth and academic rigour.
    The candidate must be proactive, motivated and adaptable, with the ability to cope with a busy timetable.
    Please note that the school is not offering sponsorship for this role and therefore candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered.
    Responsibilities:
    * Review and update the Science curriculum and policy annually (EYFS, KS1, Year 3)
    * Monitor discrete and cross-curricular Science teaching
    * Ensure planning supports EAL, SEN and enrichment pupils
    * Track pupil progress and adjust curriculum provision as needed
    * Stay up to date with developments in Science education
    * Attend relevant CPD and training
    * Maintain and develop Science resources and equipment
    * Take stock and place orders when required
    * Ensure the Science Room is tidy, organised and clearly labelled
    * Use resources efficiently and effectively

    Skills and Attributes:

    * Experienced in teaching science (2 years experience)
    * Passionate about Science and able to inspire curiosity in young children
    * Knowledgeable about primary Science pedagogy and curriculum design
    * Warm, calm and confident in supporting colleagues
    * Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
    * A strong communicator with a collaborative approach
    * Professional, reliable and aligned with Merlin School's values
