How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Location: Sevenoaks Kent/London, with travel to sites across the UK
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

Spatial Dimensions is looking for an experienced Senior Underground Utility Surveyor to join our professional surveying team as we continue to grow.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about underground utilities, enjoys solving problems and wants to play an important part in maintaining high surveying standards. You will work across a wide range of projects in the commercial, residential, heritage and public sectors, with opportunities to develop your skills, support colleagues and progress your career.

    The role
You will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of utility mapping projects, from site work through to the processing of survey data. A strong knowledge and understanding of PAS 128 is essential, along with practical experience using utility detection and location equipment. Full understanding of post processing and report writing is essential. Helping train other junior members of staff will naturally form part of this role.

You will use equipment including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and electromagnetic locators, interpret digital outputs and post-process data to support the production of detailed PAS 128 utility surveys. Experience with survey modelling software such as N4ce, CAD drawings, GPS and total stations would also be valuable.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to work confidently without direct day-to-day supervision, make appropriate technical decisions and help plan activities across projects. Communication is an important part of the role, including liaising with clients, working closely with colleagues and supporting the coaching and mentoring of others.

Health and safety is central to everything we do. You will be expected to understand site hazards, manage risks effectively and champion health and safety compliance across survey activities.

    What we’re looking for
You should have at least six years’ experience delivering utility surveys and be comfortable working to detailed specifications and standards such as PAS 128. You will need strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own time while working across multiple projects.

You will also need a full clean UK driving licence for use of company vehicles.

Experience carrying out CCTV drainage surveys, assessing pipe conditions and using software such as Wincam would be beneficial, as would knowledge of N4ce or similar survey software. Relevant qualifications or training such as QCF Level 5 Surveyor, CSCS card, SWQR, Confined Space, First Aid would also be advantageous.

The role is physically demanding and involves working on your feet throughout the day and lifting manholes while on site. You will also need a flexible approach to working hours, as overtime, night work and weekend work can form part of the role.

    What we offer
We provide a company vehicle and fuel card, surveying equipment, technology and software, together with ongoing training and a structured career path.

Benefits include 22 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, your birthday off, company life insurance, a pension scheme, company workwear and PPE, regular social events and overtime opportunities paid at 1.5 times your normal hourly or daily rate.

If you are an experienced Utility Surveyor looking for your next step with a growing and forward-thinking surveying company, we would love to hear from you
