Transparency Education is recruiting a PMLD SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Bexley.
You will support pupils aged 4–19 with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), working on a one-to-one basis and with small groups. You will help pupils access learning, develop their communication skills and participate fully in school life.
The role may involve supporting pupils with complex physical, sensory and medical needs. Responsibilities will include personal care, assistance with mobility, feeding support and the use of specialist communication methods. Relevant training and guidance will be provided where required.

Key responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with PMLD
• Assist pupils in accessing personalised learning activities
• Support pupils with communication, sensory development and engagement
• Provide personal care, mobility and feeding support where required, following individual plans and relevant training
• Use specialist communication approaches and equipment
• Work alongside teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals and other support staff
• Monitor pupils’ progress, wellbeing and engagement
• Follow safeguarding, medical and risk-management procedures at all times
Role requirements
Essential
"• Experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEND or complex needs
• A willingness and ability to provide personal care
• A calm, patient and compassionate approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to support pupils safely with mobility and daily routines, using appropriate training and equipment
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ welfare"
Desirable
"• A relevant Teaching Assistant, childcare, health or social care qualification
• Previous experience supporting pupils with PMLD
• Experience working within a specialist SEND school
• Training in moving and handling, Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods
• Experience supporting individuals with sensory, physical or medical needs"
