Mechanical Design Engineer

TXM Recruit is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Engineering team in Saffron Walden.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in mechanical design and product development to work on the design and development of mechanical products, components and systems.

You will work closely with the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer and wider multidisciplinary engineering team, helping to develop innovative, high-quality solutions that meet customer and business requirements.

The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Designing mechanical components, systems and products using 3D CAD software.
Developing and improving existing products, with a focus on performance, manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Producing 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting technical documentation.
Supporting prototype development, testing and validation activities.
Carrying out technical investigations and contributing to problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Preparing technical reports, datasheets and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensuring designs comply with relevant engineering standards, directives and environmental requirements.
Working collaboratively with electrical engineering, production and quality teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Participating in design reviews, risk assessments and engineering change processes, including FMEA/FMECA.
Working within the Product Development Process to ensure documentation, traceability and quality requirements are maintained.What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

Proven experience in mechanical design and product development.
Proficiency with 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred.
Experience with part modelling, assemblies and engineering drawings.
A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/DFA).
The ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings and technical specifications.
A methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
An awareness of engineering standards, compliance and quality requirements.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
Ideally, 2–5 years' experience within a mechanical design or product development environment.What You'll BringWe're looking for someone with strong mechanical design and engineering fundamentals, excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
