What are you looking for from your next role?
More flexibility?
A school closer to home?
The chance to gain valuable classroom experience?
A supportive team?
Or a role where you can genuinely make a difference to a child's day?
Whatever you're looking for, there could be an opportunity waiting for you in Carmarthenshire.

Find an opportunity that fits around you
No two candidates are looking for exactly the same thing.
That's why we'll start by getting to know you — what you've done, what you enjoy, when you're available and what you'd like from your next role.
Opportunities can include:
Full-time Teaching Assistant positions
Part-time and regular weekly work
Short-term assignments
Long-term placements
1:1 pupil support
Small-group learning and intervention
Classroom support
Pastoral and behavioural support
Primary schools across Carmarthenshire
Whether you're looking for flexibility or hoping to find a school where you can build a longer-term future, we'll help you understand what's available.
You might have more relevant experience than you realise
You don't need to have spent years working as a Teaching Assistant to bring something valuable into the classroom.
Perhaps you've worked in:
Childcare or nursery settings
Youth work
Sports and coaching
Mentoring
Residential or support work
Volunteering
Other roles supporting children or young people
These experiences can give you many of the qualities schools value — patience, resilience, empathy, communication and the ability to build positive relationships.
We're looking for people who are:
Caring, patient and approachable
Reliable and professional
Confident working with children
Positive and encouraging
Able to build strong relationships with pupils
Passionate about helping children develop
Comfortable working as part of a wider school team
Adaptable and willing to support pupils with different needs
Be the person who helps a pupil believe they can
A Teaching Assistant can make a huge difference.
Sometimes that's helping a pupil understand something they've been struggling with.
Sometimes it's giving them the confidence to put their hand up.
Sometimes it's helping them manage a difficult moment, build independence or simply feel that they're understood.
Depending on your role, you could be:
Supporting teachers during lessons and activities
Working 1:1 with individual pupils
Supporting small groups with learning and interventions
Encouraging pupils to participate and stay engaged
Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
Providing pastoral and practical support
Adapting support to individual pupils' needs
Contributing to a welcoming and inclusive classroom
Every school is different, and every pupil is different.
But the goal is the same: helping children feel supported, included and able to succeed.
