How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Freelance Civils Site Manager

    📍 Bristol / North Somerset
    💼 Freelance – Outside IR35
    📅 12 Months

    🚀 Start: Mid October 2026

    We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Civils Site Manager to join a major infrastructure project in the Bristol / North Somerset area.

    Working for an established civil engineering contractor, you will take responsibility for the delivery of key civils packages incorporating groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete retaining structures and external works.

    The project represents a significant investment in local infrastructure and will deliver an important new asset for the surrounding communities. This provides an excellent opportunity for a locally based Site Manager to play a key role in a scheme that will have a lasting impact on the area.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Managing the day-to-day delivery of civils works on site.
    • Overseeing groundworks, drainage, RC retaining structures and external works packages.
    • Managing and coordinating subcontractors and direct labour.
    • Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
    • Working closely with the engineering team to coordinate technical and construction requirements.
    • Reviewing RAMS and ensuring works are undertaken in accordance with approved documentation.
    • Managing short-term programmes and coordinating upcoming works.
    • Monitoring progress and reporting to the senior project team.
    • Liaising with the client, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
    • Ensuring appropriate QA and site documentation is maintained throughout the works.
    • Supporting the resolution of technical and operational issues on site.

    Requirements

    • Previous experience working as a Site Manager within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
    • Strong background managing groundworks and drainage packages.
    • Experience delivering reinforced concrete structures would be highly advantageous.
    • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple work packages.
    • Strong understanding of construction programmes, RAMS and QA requirements.
    • SMSTS.
    • CSCS.
    • First Aid.
    • Strong communication and organisational skills.

    This is a 12-month freelance opportunity, working Outside IR35, suited to an experienced Civils Site Manager looking to secure a long-term assignment on a major infrastructure scheme with genuine importance to the local area
