This is a key role responsible for Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality across the business, combining hands-on compliance with auditing, risk management, incident investigation and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
* Manage and continually improve integrated SHEQ management systems.
* Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and customer requirements.
* Support and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
* Act as the competent person for Health & Safety, advising management and operational teams.
* Develop and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures and documentation.
* Plan and conduct internal, operational and customer-site audits.
* Support external certification audits and manage corrective actions.
* Monitor contractor and supplier SHEQ performance.
* Review risk assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work.
* Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations and identify root causes.
* Maintain emergency response and business continuity arrangements.
* Manage drug and alcohol testing and coordinate occupational health requirements.
* Support tenders, PQQs, customer requirements and contract mobilisation.
* Deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks and briefings.
* Produce SHEQ reports, monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
* Work closely with senior management and operational teams to promote a strong SHEQ culture.
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven SHEQ management experience within industrial, engineering, utilities, environmental, construction or another regulated environment.
* Strong practical knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
* Experience managing integrated management systems and certification.
* Strong auditing, compliance, risk assessment and incident investigation experience.
* Experience with occupational health and drug/alcohol testing processes.
* Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
* A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to advise and challenge where required.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent - essential.
* Internal Auditor qualification - essential.
* Lead Auditor qualification - desirable.
* IOSH membership / GradIOSH / CMIOSH - desirable.
