How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

National Account Manager - Automotive Aftermarket

You've mastered national account management. What's your next move?

We're looking for an experienced National Account Manager who wants their next move to be about more than managing a bigger portfolio.

We're effectively hiring our future Sales Director, but we're starting that journey in a National Account Manager role.

You'll initially own strategically important national accounts and automotive buying-group relationships, driving revenue, margin, product penetration and market share.

Alongside this, you'll gain increasing exposure to the wider sales operation, coaching salespeople, influencing field performance, contributing to sales strategy and helping shape the future of the sales team.

The ambition is for the successful individual to develop towards a Sales Director position over the next 3-5 years, subject to performance, capability and the continued growth of the business.

    Location

Hybrid / Field Based - UK National

Ideally based in the Midlands, Central England or Northwest, including Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester, Nottingham, Manchester and surrounding areas.

Regular travel throughout the UK will be required to develop national accounts, build buying-group relationships and work alongside the regional sales team.

    Salary

    £60,000 Basic + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

    The Role

You'll take commercial ownership of key national customers and buying groups, developing account plans and negotiating pricing, trading terms, rebates, listings and promotional activity.

Importantly, your responsibility won't end when an agreement is signed. You'll work with the regional sales team to turn national agreements into measurable sales at member, branch and depot level.

You'll also identify new national account opportunities and develop additional product, member and branch opportunities within existing relationships.

As you establish a strong track record commercially, you'll take on increasing responsibility for sales performance, coaching, recruitment, planning and strategy, building the experience required for a future Sales Director role.

    About You

You'll have a proven track record of managing and growing national or major customer accounts, with experience in:

    Commercial negotiation and account development.
Growing revenue, range, penetration and customer share.
    Margin and profitable sales growth.
Translating central agreements into field-level sales.
Mentoring, coaching or influencing other salespeople.
Developing strategic customer relationships.Automotive aftermarket experience is highly advantageous, particularly with buying groups or national distributors.

We're also open to strong National Account Managers from industrial consumables, distribution and related B2B sectors.

Most importantly, you'll be commercially successful today and genuinely ambitious to develop into a broader sales leader tomorrow.

    Why This Role?

Take ownership of strategically important national accounts and buying groups.
Combine national account management, new business and sales leadership development.
Gain genuine exposure to sales strategy, coaching, recruitment and team development.
Build the experience required to progress beyond account management.
Develop towards a Sales Director position over 3-5 years, based on performance and business growth.
Make a visible impact on the development of an established independent business.Apply in Confidence
