How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Pay: £25,500.00-£26,500.00 per year

    Job description:

    Who we are

GHMG is a newly launched vehicle maintenance business within an established motor group, built to fix what's broken about the used-car servicing experience. We support 3–10 year old vehicles to main-dealer standards, at fair prices, with none of the pressure or jargon customers usually put up with.

Because we're building the department from the ground up, the way we train people is different too — we're not looking for someone who already knows how to run a service desk. We're looking for someone with real mechanical knowledge who wants to learn how to run one.

    The role

If you've done a technician apprenticeship, spent time on the tools, or worked in a workshop and found yourself more interested in talking to customers than working under a bonnet — this role is built for you.

You'll join as a Trainee Service Advisor, working alongside our Service Manager to learn the front-of-house side of the business: managing bookings, explaining work to customers in plain English, quoting jobs accurately, and keeping the workshop running smoothly. Your technical background is the head start most trainee advisors don't have — you'll understand what the technicians are telling you, and you'll be able to explain it to customers with real credibility.

This is a genuine development role, not just a job title. As you build confidence and hit agreed milestones, your responsibility, autonomy and pay grow with you — with a clear path to becoming a full Service Advisor, and beyond that, a future Service Manager as the department expands.

Why this is a good move

    • You already understand cars — this role teaches you the business and customer side to go with it.
    • You'll be trained personally by the Service Manager, not left to figure it out alone.
    • Because the department is brand new, you'll help shape how things are done rather than slot into someone else's system.
    • Clear, milestone-based progression — this is a stepping stone role with a defined next step, not a dead end.

    What you'll be doing

    Learning the front desk

    • Shadow and then take on customer check-in/check-out, booking management and job progress updates.
    • Learn to translate technical findings from the workshop into clear, honest explanations for customers.
    • Build confidence quoting and pricing work, with sign-off from the Service Manager as you progress.

    Customer experience

    • Help maintain the high standards of customer care GHMG is built on.
    • Support the team in handling questions and concerns calmly and professionally.
    • Start building the relationship skills that turn one-off customers into repeat ones.

    Operations & quality

    • Get properly trained on our DMS (dealer management system) and data standards from day one.
    • Use your technical eye to help spot-check completed jobs alongside the workshop team.
    • Take on more ownership of day-to-day department running as your experience grows.

    What we're looking for

    Background

    • Completed (or nearly completed) an apprenticeship relevant to the motor vehicle sector, or hands-on workshop experience — you know your way around a car.
    • A clear interest in moving away from the tools and into a customer facing role.
    • No previous Service Advisor experience needed — that's what this role is for.

    Skills & attitude

    • Comfortable talking to people — happy chatting to a customer as much as a technician.
    • Organised, and not fazed by learning a new system (DMS) from scratch.
    • A genuine self-starter — happy to ask questions, take feedback, and build the role as you go.
    • Valid UK driving licence.

    Our values

    • Safety
    • Trust & Transparency
    • Technical Excellence
    • Experiential (digital & in-person)
    • Value for money

    Package & development

    • £25,500 – £26,500 basic salary (dependent on experience), reviewed against agreed milestones
    • Structured on-the-job training with the Service Manager, plus formal Service Advisor training as you progress
    • Clear progression path: Junior Service Advisor → Service Advisor → (long term) Service Manager, as the department grows
    • Pension
    • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
