This is an opportunity for an experienced Operational Risk Manager to provide support and assist the Head of Risk Management and Internal Audit in managing processes for developing strategic and operational risk management functions. This is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
About the role:
- Manage the monthly update, review and quality assurance process of Operational Risk Registers across all directorates.
- Produce Operational Risk Register (ORR) summary reports to the ELT on a quarterly basis, whilst also supporting and discussing current and emerging risks and issues with Executive Directors, Associate Directors and Heads of departments to ensure identified risks are complete and accurate and challenging and influencing operational risk owners.
- Successfully undertake Programme/Project Risk QA activities.
- Advise business managers and Programme/Project sponsors on the development of project risk registers and attend Risk and Oversight Group meetings.
- Deliver 4Risk software training to centralise risk management processes and lead on 4Risk software support.
- Monitor risk mitigations against plans and seek updates and assurance that risk owners are managing risk appropriately, whilst collaborating with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
- Identify trend flaws in the updating of risk registers and suggest ways to improve them.
- Undertake Assurance Gap Analysis using a risk-based approach to identify assurance gaps in the organisation, used in setting the global internal audit plan (covering all business areas), for the consideration of Head of Risk Management and Internal Audit, ELT and ARC.
- Create the Internal Audit Recommendation Implementation Tracker report for the ELT and the ARC, reporting on progress in implementing control or design weaknesses in the entire organisation.
Person specification:
- Good understanding and experience of strategic, operational, programme and project risk management with the ability to speak with confidence and detailed knowledge regarding Risk Management to senior internal or external forums.
- Professionally qualified or working towards qualification in Internal Audit (QIAL, CIA, CMIIA).
- Evidence of developing effective relationships and influencing at senior level.
- Evidence of developing, embedding and managing high-quality processes and procedures.
- High-quality written and oral communication skills, including communicating and explaining complex processes to a lay audience, also computer literate and proficient in MS Office suite and ability to work with new systems and software as they are implemented.
