Do you have experience supporting children with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working with primary schools across Bury that require dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants.
The role will involve helping pupils access learning and supporting their wider development. Depending on the setting, you could be working with pupils with autism, ADHD, communication difficulties or other additional needs.
Some positions are classroom-based, while others involve providing more focused support to an individual pupil or small group.
The successful Teaching Assistant will:
Support pupils with additional educational needs
Work alongside the class teacher to adapt activities
Encourage communication and independence
Provide one-to-one and small-group support
Assist with classroom routines
Promote positive behaviour
Help pupils access the curriculum
Develop trusting relationships with childrenA calm, patient and consistent approach is particularly important. You should be able to respond appropriately when a pupil becomes overwhelmed and understand the importance of following individual support strategies.
Experience within a school, SEN setting, care environment or similar role would be advantageous.
You should have:
Previous experience supporting children or young people
An understanding of additional needs
Strong communication skills
Patience and resilience
A nurturing approach
