How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Shop Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with our client, a global leader in access solutions, offering mechanical and digital locks, security cylinders, door automation, and identity management.
    Due to strategic global growth and an ever growing order book they now require an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer for there site on the outskirts of Newton Abbot. (Heathfield).
    Role Summary:
    Support the operation of the office and factory facilities through completion of planned preventative maintenance, repairs, projects and process improvements.
    Duties:
    * Participate in miscellaneous engineering related projects as required to support the manufacturing organisation.
    * Under supervision support the manufacturing operation with any engineering related issues in a suitable priority order.
    * Assist with the provision of timely breakdown assistance (Electrical & Mechanical) to support the manufacturing organisation.
    * Assist with the completion of accurate maintenance/breakdown records and log these onto the CMMS
    * Support production by helping the engineering team to provide routine maintenance, fault finding and attending production breakdowns.
    * Assist the engineering team with monitoring and improving manufacturing processes where necessary.
    * Assist with undertaking routine facilities maintenance around the factory when required.
    * Provide manufacturing support using machine tools.
    * Observe the Company Quality and Environmental standards, procedures, and guidelines at all times.
    * Observe Health and Safety rules and keep work area clean and tidy and free from potential hazards.
    Background and Personal Qualities
    Qualifications:
    * An engineering apprenticeship
    * OHC/HNC Level Qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
    * City & Guilds 7671 18th Edition Electrical Regulations
    * Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    * Self Awareness
    * Problem solving
    * Good analytical, planning and organisation skills
    * An excellent team player but able to work successfully as an individual
    * Smart in appearance, polite and professional
    * Safety conscious with professional attitude
    Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
