How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Hospital Project

    Location: West Suffolk
Rate: £450–£550 per day, depending on experience
    IR35: Outside IR35
Working Pattern: Site-based with flexibility to work from home
Accommodation: Digs paid for by the client where overnight stays are required/preferred
Sector: Healthcare / Major Projects / Framework
    Contract: Long-term opportunity

    The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading national contractor delivering a major new hospital project at West Suffolk Hospital, forming part of a wider and established framework.

The project is currently in the design phase, providing an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS to become involved early and have a significant influence over procurement, commercial strategy and project delivery.

This is a role suited to a Senior QS who is comfortable operating in a pre-construction/design environment and working closely with the project management, planning and design teams to develop the scheme through to delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Take commercial responsibility for elements of the project from design through to delivery.

    * Lead and manage procurement activities, ensuring packages are procured effectively and commercially.

    * Develop and manage Schedules of Works and associated pricing documentation.

    * Prepare, negotiate and manage subcontract agreements.

    * Develop procurement and commercial strategies in conjunction with the wider project team.

    * Work closely with the Planning and Design Teams to develop and package the works.

    * Assist with planning and sequencing packages of work to support project delivery.

    * Manage subcontractor procurement, tendering, evaluation and commercial negotiations.

    * Monitor costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial performance.

    * Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

    * Administer and manage contracts in accordance with NEC principles.

    * Work collaboratively with the project management and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.

    * Provide commercial advice and reporting to senior project stakeholders.

    * Support the project as it progresses from design development into construction.

    About You

We are looking for an accomplished Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in major construction projects, ideally within healthcare, public sector, infrastructure or other complex building environments.

    You will ideally have:

    * Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.

    * Strong NEC contract experience.

    * Demonstrable experience in procurement and subcontract management.

    * Experience producing and managing Schedules of Works.

    * Strong understanding of subcontract agreements and commercial negotiations.

    * Experience working alongside planning and design teams to develop packages of work.

    * The ability to operate effectively during the design/pre-construction phase.

    * Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.

    * Experience working for a main/national contractor.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

    Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a major national contractor on a significant healthcare project, with the security and pipeline associated with a larger framework.

The role offers a flexible working arrangement, with site attendance at West Suffolk Hospital required, alongside the ability to work from home where appropriate. For those who prefer to stay locally during periods of increased site attendance, client-funded digs are available for overnight stays.

The successful candidate will be joining the project at an important stage, with the opportunity to shape procurement, commercial strategy and package development before the scheme moves fully into construction.

    Package

£450–£550 per day, dependent on experience
    Outside IR35
    Hybrid working available
Client-funded accommodation/digs for overnight stays where required

If you are an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC, procurement and pre-construction experience and are interested in working on a major hospital development within a long-term framework, please get in touch for further information
